22'x24' Hip Roof Pavilion w/ Integrated Self-Contained Power
The gentle slope of a hip roof with its trapezoidal sides and pyramid-like elegance is a graceful traditional design that pleases the eyes and can be constructed in a combination of various unique styles.
The hip roof, also referred to as a hipped roof is a symmetrical rectangular construction with two hips meeting at either end with four sloping uniform sides meeting at a single peak. When the hip is equal on all four sides it is sometimes called a pavilion roof or a pyramid roof. The external angle to which the sloping adjacent sides meet is the hip. To the degree that the hip slopes is ascribed as the hip bevel.
A hipped roof is more durable, often used in more advanced architecture adding quality and solidness to a home or shade structure. Hipped roofs on shade structures e.g. she sheds, man caves, hobby huts, etc. are popular in strong wind regions and coastal locations giving an appealing look to the property and is considered the best choice for a shed covering.
The hip roof is sound and great choice for a pavilion as well. Check out today's featured DIY timber kit, a timber frame pavilion with a hipped roof and TimberVolt™ integrated self-contained power system.:

King post in center of a hipped roof of a DIY old world pavilion kit with mortise and tenon dovetail connections.
Center of the hip roof is the king post giving that handsome architectural dovetail of timberwright artisans. Properly seasoned, well designed timber frame with the mortise and tenon joint system has been proven itself to be the most architecturally responsible material available in its ability to stand against greater wind loads as well as having amazing seismic resilience. In regions where there is the continual and natural occurrences of storms, strong winds, heavy snows and seismic shifting it is especially essential to have a thorough understanding of load paths and design properties. This is an amazing timber pavilion for weighty mountainous snow loads and strong coastal winds and a hipped roof is just an extra bonus for strength to stand against wind and extra resilient with heavy snow.

Thank you for asking. I freelance for Western to make sure no question slips through the cracks. I have sent your question forward requesting to tell you the average cost of a 22' x 24' kit. I do know that each kit is custom-fabricated, and no two are exactly alike so wood type, and other features like adding a power post or not, etc. changes things some. Anyhow, they are closed tonight but someone will reach out to you. Enjoy your evening. - Marilynn

We sell "kits" in the sense that they are pre-built, pre-tested, and pre-stained so they will easily slide in and interlock together with old-world, wood-to-wood connections —without the use of nails of glue; which virtually eliminating all unsightly hardware. Each kit, however, is built for you and for your landscape —just the way you’d like it. For this reason every design is as unique as each individual’s landscape. Someone can have a 9’ x 19’ kit or it can be for example a 9′ 2 1/2″ x 10 3/4″ Kit —they are that precise in fitting it for their landscape, and vision. Here is a post that describes some of what we do: https://www.westerntimberframe.com/wooden-timber-pergolas/easily-build-a-fast-diy-beautiful-backyard-shade-structure/ . I hope that is helpful, Terina, and that you have a wonderful rest of your weekend.
