Frequently Asked Questions:
- Do you have to be a skilled carpenter to install a Timber Pergola Kit from Western Timber Frame?
- Would a Pergola from the local hardware store or a from a catalog cost less?
- How long does a Timber Frame Pergola/Gazebo last as compared to a vinyl pergola?
- Does the size of the beams and material matter in the long term durability of a Pergola/Gazebo Kit?
1. Do you have to be a skilled carpenter to install a timber pergola kit from Western Timber Frame?
1. We have home owners from all across the Country install our timber kits in one day who had very little to no carpentry experience. Don’t just take my word for it, read what customers have to say about us on our Testimonials page.
2. I can just go buy a pergola from the local hardware store or a catalog for less money?
2. To date, to our knowledge, there is not any other heavy duty timber pergola kits like ours on the market anywhere. There have been some in the past that have tried to claim themselves as such but time has proven otherwise. See our Pergola Kits page for more information.
3. I would rather buy a vinyl pergola rather than a timber one so it will last longer?
3. There is a reason that even in the oldest of cities in Europe and other Countries their buildings and architecture still stands with beautifully handcrafted timber workmanship. Timber is time tested and structurally approved. Vinyl is not near as structural nor will it last as long. It is not biodegradable nor environmentally friendly. Don’t get me wrong Vinyl is perfect for many applications, one being fences. However, Timber is ideal for great shade structures (pergolas), decks, and trusses.
4. Does the size of the beams and material matter in the long term durability of a Pergola/Gazebo Kit?
4. You will probably be be able to save a little money upfront by
buying a pergola kit that uses small dimensional lumber, but long term
the quality will suffer. The reason we don’t use small dimensional lumber is that within a couple months to a year the sun will warp and twist the lumber, sometimes even snapping the screws that are holding them down.
Besides this being an eyesore, it will also become unstable and the
structural integrity will be compromised.
Western Timber Frame uses the highest quality timber, number one grade
or better. We use over-sized material to give a life long lasting
ability to stand up to the highest winds and harshest weather conditions. Our pergola kits
can withstand heavy snow loads and you hang multiple swings on them
without having to worry about it falling over, or becoming unstable.
Remember that at Western Timber Frame you can choose everything from decks and patios to pergolas and pavilions. Everyone of the structures that we build is custom measured to fit your space and designed to fit your style.
Western Timber Frame has quickly expanded to become the largest Custom Timber Pergola Kit provider in the Nation.
Using our unique dove tail notching system we have taken the industry by storm. Call today for a free Pergola Kit estimate or we can send one of our qualified representatives out to your home and give you a free backyard design and a price right there on the spot.
