What to Expect: Stain Touch-Up After Your ShadeScape™ Install

Your post-experience reflection is important to us and how you viewed your project in each step to completion. Whether your structure is simple or complex, the touch-up process should be easy and straightforward from start to finish. No touch-up should take more than 4 man hours.
When a Timber ShadeScape™ Kit has been pre-cut, pre-drilled, pre-stained and pre-tested before being transported to its destination, the pieces are then stacked onto thinner sized pieces of wood ready for shipping.
Often because of the weight and size of these oversized heavy beams, the thinner wood pieces they are placed on will stick some to the timbers. This can leave some spots of exposed timber which is easily touched up with a brush stroke.
• ShadeScape™ Kits that have two tones of stain, the tongue and groove pieces will be much easier to touch-up before it is installed!
• White will have an extra coat which can cause more touch-up which is why we send more touch-up with white structures.
• Black often requires more touch-up as well because of the stark contrast of the dark over the more neutral colors.
As a rule of thumb, we send as much stain as we expect for the touch-up. If the touch-up takes more stain than we send or more than 4 man hours per structure we consider that excessive.
Again, here are more examples of typically what you can expect. The timbers will need some touch up with stain. The extra stain you are provided will be more than enough to complete the project.
