Before I can respond, she answers herself, “You pull it out and if it grows back it was a weed!”
She laughs heartily at her own humor and continues, “There is only one way I know of to really get rid of morning glories.”
I am chuckling, not because her humor is so hilarious but because she thinks it is.
I amiably comply to her as I would to one of my kids’ repetitive ‘why did the chicken cross the road jokes’, with “How’s that?”
Laughing in total delight she gives me the punch-line, “Move someplace else!”
I know not to take my mother’s gardening or landscaping tips too seriously but I do enjoy how she likes to invent funny and joy is second nature to her.
