Bigger is Better, Yes & No; Timber Frame Shade Creations

Sometimes bigger is better depending upon the subject, what and when. Below are a few quick examples of when bigger is and isn’t better. Take for instance the brain:
Scientists are primarily divided as to whether or not a bigger brain makes one person more intelligent than another. Though, not everyone will agree, some studies claim a strong conclusion that a bigger brain does make a smarter person. However, not every study scientific uses the same system or criteria on each subject to determine how big the brain is. Some measurements are taken within the cavity of the skull. Other methods scan the brain itself. There are so many factors to consider besides the size and as most will attest to even intelligent people sometimes unintelligent things.

On Average, Men Have Bigger Brains
Men’s brains, on average, are a slight bit bigger than a woman’s brain. I am a woman, so naturally I am biased, and probably due to a slightly smaller brain, but the way I view it is that men on average just have a bigger head.

Computers Getting Smaller
Computers are big example of shrinking in size. This is considered for the most part better. In, 1944, the IBM Harvard Mark-1 computer was incredibly large and could fill a room having a camshaft that was 50 feet long! I am kind of old-fashioned, but I am not into the idea of driving a U-haul around to transport my computer to work with me.
Today, computers can commonly be held in the palm of the hand. And computers are continuing to become smaller and smaller. Recently, Intel unveiled the Edison, a computer housed inside of an SD card. With computer’s nanotechnologies that are ever increasing in its’ rate of shrinkage, in not too long, computers will vanish completely out of existence:).
Big Business Verses Small Business
Business is one that is seldom clear-cut, bigger is better. A good example of this is an interesting article posted by Paula Andruss about Dean Cycon owner of Dean’s Beans Organic Coffee. After being in business for only five years, Dean Cycon was offered by a credible distributor to expand his distribution from seventeen stores with twelve employees and triple its size overnight. It seems like an entrepreneur’s awesome dream come true. Dean Cycon didn’t think so. After the cost of more machinery, analyzing the profits, Dean saw that it would not be much different than they were making at present and that it would require evening shifts for production and investment in more machinery, etc. Most importantly he felt that the quality of life for families that would have to work evening shifts would be less, so he chose not to grow it big that way.

Timber is the best material for more comfortable temperatures and long-term durability in an outdoor shade structure. Bigger posts mean a stronger structure overall particularly when utilized on the main support posts.
With bigger support posts than conventional timbers as well as the Western Timber Frame’s The Dovetail Difference™, it creates a stronger and more durable structural shade creation as pictured on the right here in these two comparisons.
A timber frame arbor, pavilion, pergola or gazebo shade creation from Western Timber Frame™ is faster, easier and better because of being much bigger than conventional timber frame sizes.
