Before & After: DIY Pergola Kit for Rhode Island Fireplace & Poolside Shade
The town of Kings Towne, today known as North Kingstown, of Rhode Island was incorporated in 1674 by the colonial government. There is so much history in this town. North Kingstown was home to the birthplace of Gilbert Charles Stuart born in 1755 in the village of Saunderstown. Stuart was considered one of America’s premiere portraitists. He painted more than one thousand portraits including the first six Presidents of the United States. His portrait of President George Washington has been on the one-dollar bill for more than a century.
There is also a lot of architectural history as well with three hundred plus year old buildings still standing; which makes North Kingstown a perfect place for a Western Timber Frame™ shade structure. Western Timber Frame™ structures are visible massive heavy timbers of impressive engineering masterpieces rich in architectural heritage, perfected in modern technology, creating monumental heirlooms for generations of relaxation and enjoyment.

As one client explained: "They left my yard looking fantastic, and kept the work area clear so that my 3 year old and I could safely watch the whole process. It was so cool! The posts are 8" x 8" posts and were installed with Western Timber Frame's custom knife plates. The posts are cut into the bottom of the post to conceal the knife plate for a clean nice finish without unsightly hardware.
They also ordered the DIY pergola kit to be drilled for power which is one of the unique features offered at Western Timber Frame. A hole is drilled through the entire length of the post to run power without unsightly cords or electrical wires. It is also safer. Drilling for power is ideal for your outdoor electrical needs. It can be used for your Electrician to run his own wiring, water lines for Water Misters, water taps, network cables, cat 5 lines, TV lines, etc. It is all concealed and out of sight and also offers protection from the elements. Choosing a kit that is drilled for power can truly maximize a family’s backyard living experience.
